Forefront has officially released its latest major update, titled Operation: Sandstorm, which brings significant new content to the virtual reality shooter. The patch introduces a progression system called Operations, functioning similarly to a battle pass, where players can earn points through daily and weekly challenges to unlock free rewards or purchase premium versions for exclusive items like character and vehicle skins, weapon patterns, emblems, and charms.

A key addition to the arsenal is the FMS rifle and the game's first melee weapon, a combat knife. Both items are unlockable through the new Operation: Sandstorm system. The update also features a new game mode named Breakthrough, described as a hybrid of Conquest and Rush. In this mode, attackers must push forward to capture all points in a sector to overwhelm the enemy, while defenders strive to maintain control of their territory. Breakthrough is currently available on the Tunnels, Siberia, Mauritania, and Fjord maps.

Beyond new gameplay features, the update adds support for bHaptics devices, including TactSuit vests, TactSleeve, and the TactVisor. Technical enhancements include improved server performance, increased network bandwidth, and better foveated rendering on Steam Frame. The voice chat system has also been refined with improved error handling.

The patch addresses numerous bugs and balance adjustments across weapons, gadgets, vehicles, and maps. Notable fixes include correcting issues where players would drop grabbed equipment randomly, resolving loadout saving errors, and fixing instances of claymore kills being miscounted as air kills. Weapon mechanics have been tweaked to apply separate movement slow stats based on weapon categories, ensuring SMGs slow players less than LMGs. Additionally, the update resolves various collision glitches, such as characters getting stuck on pillars or falling through floors on maps like Karst, Fjord, and Oasis.

Forefront is currently available on Quest, Steam, and Pico platforms. The game is scheduled to launch on PlayStation VR2 on November 5.
