Real VR Fishing is expanding with Great Lakes & Oceans, a paid DLC that introduces new fishing locations, species and challenges. The expansion will add 10 North American spots, including six locations around the Great Lakes along the US-Canada border.
The DLC includes 30 new fish species, among them five freshwater monsters and three sharks. Until now, the game's most difficult battles have involved sharks in saltwater environments. The new freshwater monsters bring similarly demanding encounters to lakes and rivers.
These monsters can appear during a regular fishing fight. After players hook a standard fish and begin reeling it in, a giant monster may randomly emerge and steal the catch. The encounter then turns into a battle against a fish with shark-level power and difficulty.
Each of the five freshwater monsters has its own encyclopedia entry and trophy. Landing a first specimen also unlocks a unique rod and reel set. The expansion adds further cosmetic items, along with new achievements and trophies.
Great Lakes & Oceans launches on Meta Quest on November 10 and on SteamVR on November 11. The DLC will cost $12.99, while the base game is priced at $19.99.
